First, panel 4 is amazing, as are the backgrounds. They really do a lot to make the strips look very interesting while not being too busy.
Secondly, I love wearing ties as well. I’m student teaching right now at an elementary school, but I wear a tie everyday to school! Ties make everything 10 times cooler.
You should watch How I Met Your Mother. It’s a cute sitcom but this strip reminds me of Barney. To get chicks he insists on “suiting up” as he calls it which is just like it sounds. He gets on a suit and goes out hunting for girls.
We used to have Casual Fridays at work, but we’re an IT shop, so it was eventually decided that every day would be casual.
I then figured that I should observe Formal Fridays (mostly because it was an alliteration). That didn’t go well with the rest of the department, and they all made it clear that ties were not allowed.
Apparently the same thing happened to the person who suggested we should actually turn ON the lights in the office. This is a dark, dark place, man.
Scott – Inverted pentagram? Is that Josh Howard’s broken pentagram? Is that on a tie?
DoveArrow – I’ve been rocking the “loose-tie” look. Leave the very top button undone, and loosen your tie just a tad. You’ll still look sharp and you won’t have a ball of mucus floating around your esophagus.
I think it’s funny that the dude apparently wearing a sweater vest is calling another guy a tool-bag. BTW I like the use of the word tool-bag (hyphenated, one word!).
An inverted pentagram tie would be interesting all right. Not surprised they sell them though, you can get ANYTHING on a piece of clothing anymore
Hehe, ties are cool. One time, I noticed there were mini ties pinned to my history teacher’s billboard. I asked, “Where’d you get the mini ties?” Turns out they were just the little end of the ties he wears.
I am starting to not wear a sport coat to church just a tie. This could be a real step for me. Eventually I might try not wearing a tie.
I really like how real max is
I enjoy wearing ties as well, but every time I wear one to work, my students ask me if I’m going to a funeral after work. The odd thing is, I could wear a tie all day and be more comfortable than I am in sweats and a hoodie.

Ahahaha I LOVE Max’s expression in panel 4.

Is it just me, or in Panel 4, is Max channeling the Tenth Doctor? =P

What’s wrong with wearing ties to church?!

Ha ha! That’s some funny stuff. It’s funny how ties can actually OFFEND some people. :)
People are just too sensitive. I once wore my inverted pentagram tie to church and people wigged out. Never wore a tie after that day.
I like the way ties look. However, I find I get a little ball of phlegm in my throat whenever I wear one.
Max looks very much like Guy Smiley in the last frame.

Spencer – Great observation! :)
Hearing some ZZ Top here…….”every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man…..” :D

Thanks, Bruce! If you don’t wear a sport coat or tie, will your congregation get mad?
