I’m really digging the art work in this strip, especially panel 2. Just something about the lighting on the arm that is very natural and dynamic. Some quality lighting that you don’t usually get in comic strips. Also, I really like how the solid black is done on panel 3. I really like the fact that it isn’t just a solid block of black.
I read this one and it gave me a good chuckle. I do see what you mean about it being like YHT. Reese looks a bit like a buddha, and I suppose it is a bit like him, dispensing wise advice. is there going to be a character page too?
CHARACTER PAGE! Great idea, Karen! I’ll get crackin’ on that!
DJ – Thanks, man. One of the things I wanted to do with “Max vs. Max” was let it be a pure black-and-white comic strip. I liked using grayscale in YHT, but sometimes I felt like the finished strip looked “muddy”. With straight black-and-white art I feel like the drawings can “breathe” a little, but I have to be very strategic with my placement of blacks which I have never been very good at. It’s sort of “trial-by-fire” so hopefully I’ll force myself to get better at balancing my black and white spaces! I’m glad you like panels 2 and 3, though. I’m particularly proud of them, too. :)
Okay, so on the first part I commented on the guy’s FIF hoodie. It finally clicked today that his name is Reese. You really do love you some FIF, don’t you? (I do too :) )
“Popping wheelies” hahahaha! Talked to Nathan this morning and had not checked this out yet. He said “You HAVE to check out Friday’s! strip” and he was right. Good stuff man

All around great strip to finish off the week!

I’ve never forgotten how to ride a bike, but I never knew how to do wheelies in the first place. So…I dunno if that analogy works. : )
This is really good. Love it!
