It’s not that it’s an inappropriate time to discuss such heavy questions; it’s just that it’s hard to talk about philosophy and play fake guitar at the same time.
I’m a pretty “go-with-the-flow” guy, myself – but I can’t help but wonder sometimes how things would have turned out if I had made a couple different choices in the past. It has nothing to do with regret or remorse. Mainly curiosity.
I agree, I am curious how some things would be different if I hadn’t made choices I did. Like switching universities after 2 years, and moving away from my now husband (then boyfriend) for 1.5 years… would we have gotten married sooner if I didn’t leave? Would we still have the same kids we do now? But its dangerous to play the “what if” game too often.
I don’t see anything so great about anyone going to the university of Findlay. But then, I’m from Ottawa so maybe I see it as too much of a community college. (Also, I apparently have low opinions of community colleges.)
Anyway, makes me wonder if people from Mishawaka or Goshen feel the same way about Bethel (where I currently attend)
Me: And what about the symbolism of the flower? Does she mean she is tempted by him, or in love with him? But really, what is the line between desire and love? I suppose it is the willingness to be unselfish for the person-
Friends: Okay, we are just trying to watch this romantic comedy. Shut up!
Me always trying to get into deep philosophical conversations at the worst of times. Obviously I need a better timer for those things.
Wes,
I found You’ll Have That about a year ago, and I loved it. Then, when you went through that rough spot, and set up the blog, I checked it to just make sure, since not only were you one of my favorite webcomic artists, but you were also one of the first Christian artists out there. No that you have this, I’m really happy for you. I can’t wait to keep reading your stuff. Keep on truckin’, man. God bless.
“Are we talking about the same University of Findlay?”
I don’t know of any others, but I could be mistaken. I’m referring to the one in northwest Ohio, in a smallish City on I-75, north of Lima and south of Toledo.
Ottawa – just over 4,000 people but we have a ‘suburb’ with 600ish so it makes us feel good about ourselves. Just don’t tell people from Glandorf that I called them a suburb. :P
plans are for wusses. you just go with the flow man…..just like the waves….
But even the waves don’t happen by accident.
either way, just like my friend and I said during “senioritis” in high school, you just have to “ride the wave.”
But yea, funny how plastic guitar buttons brings out deep emotions. haha

chibidani – I agree. It can be very dangerous to get too caught up in the “what if” game.

Being an old DMB fan this little chat has given me a “Dancing Nancies” moment. Now I have to go dig up my Red Rocks CD.
Could I have been . . . a parking lot attendant? Could I have been . . . a millionaire in Bel Air?
I can so identify with Max on this one.
