Tattoos may be more permanent than the awkwardness of a first date, but the trauma of first-date-awkwardness can lead to a long-term social disorder that is far more damaging than a needle squirting ink into your skin.
I found Wes through stuffchristianslike.net, and I read every single “You’ll have that” I could get my hands on in two days time. I laughed so hard, and sent them to all of my friends.
Not gonna lie, I’ve been on edge waiting for Max vs. Max to start– but it says there are 2 weeks worth of comics on the site, and I only see one strip? Are there more, or do I have to wait until Wednesday?
Mad – I’ve got the first two weeks drawn and uploaded to the site, but they’re “scheduled” posts and won’t appear until their appointed date. Sorry for the confusion! I wrote that blog at midnight last night and I was pretty tired!
Scott – FIF is Five Iron Frenzy – one of my favorite ska bands.
But I love the comic – great look, fun writing so far!
Just kidding about FIF – I’m not actually familiar with their music. Just thought the juxtaposition of the two comments sounded fun. Plus I was feeling a little trollish. XD
Wes,
it is GREAT to see this up and going! ;-) After talking to you a bit at Mid-Ohio Con this year, it is especially gratifying to see you back in the saddle!
No offense intended, but your webcomic here is…well flat. A comic strip’s punchlines should be climaticly funny; whether slapstick, or ironic funny…not just “I want to date again…or maybe get a tattoo.” Where’s the funny in the strip? Look…not to get you pissed off; am trying to help…some strip cartoonists are good drawers, but not good at the writing aspect of strips… I suggest you find someone you can collaborate with…i.e. you do the artwork and they write the gags. A good number of stripers do this… Just a suggestion…
I’ve been drawing comic books and comic strips, along with doing book cover illustrations for 40 years, as a published artist…so I feel I know what I’m talking about. If I were you, I would hook up with a good, funny, strip’s gag writer…

I’m so stoked for this! The internet has been lacking on some quality webcomics, so it is great to have you back!
Also, Five Iron Frenzy is awesome. That is all there is to say about that.
DJ
Thanks, DJ!
Yeah, love the FIF hoodie.
Bookmarked for Five Iron.
Haha! I’m changing the name of the comic strip to “Five Iron Frenzy” just so I can get readers. :)
Found this comic via Evan from pajamaforest.com :) I think this is the start of a wonderful obsession. <3 And a healthy one, hopefully!
Yaaaaay! Welcome to the site, Liane!
thanks for the tip on Five Iron Frenzy
No prob, home skillet.
I hate FIF. They’re awful.

I almost banned you from the site forever. :)

Nice start with this one. I’m looking forward to checking out this comic!
Thanks, guys!
good to see you still drawing! Love it!!! Btw… Should I get a tatoo?
Yes. Immediately. A full-chest tattoo of a newt. Christie will love it.
that would be cool… Or an autobot insignia….. :D
Best of luck, bookmarked and keeping an eye on Max vs. Max
High five, Tim! Welcome aboard!

In any case, good luck to you with your work.
Thanks, Wolf!
Welcome back WES!
Found you via Stuff Christians Like. Loved browsing thru You’ll Have That archives!
Wolf’s full of himself. Tattoo was just funny enough. Guffaws are not needed every strip for Pete’s sake. You know what you’re doing, keep it up!
Thanks, Gem! Glad to have ya here!
wait… Is Reese’s wife named Monique or Jessica?
Wow! Huge mistake in continuity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
- Wes
Fixed it!
haha good job (:
